Part 9: The Parable of the Mustard Seed & Other Parables

Matthew 13:31 - Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, ‘The Kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.’ Continue reading

Part 8: Jesus Rebukes the Pharisees

Luke 7:36-8:3 - And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat. 37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Part 7: Jesus Teaches How to Pray

Matthew 6:9 - ‘Pray after this manner: ‘Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be your name. 10 Your Kingdom come. Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For yours is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.’

14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. 16 Moreover when you fast, don’t be as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces that they may appear unto men to fast. Truly I say unto you: They have their reward.

17 But you, when you fastest, anoint your head, and wash your face, 18 that you appear not unto men to fast, but unto your Father which is in secret: and your Father, which sees in secret, shall reward you openly. Continue reading

Part 6: The Witness of John the Baptist–Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount

John 5:31 – ‘If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. 32 There is another that bears witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesses of me is true. 33 You sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that you might be saved. 35 He was a burning and a shining light: and you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father has given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father himself, which has sent me, has borne witness of me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.’

Jesus’ Words Testify

38 ‘And you have not his word abiding in you: for whom he has sent, him you believe not. 39 Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40 And you will not come to me, that you might have life. Continue reading

Part 4: The Work of John the Baptist

John 3:22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he stayed with them, and baptized. 23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. 24 For John was not yet cast into prison.

25 Then there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purifying. 26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, ‘Rabbi, he that was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you bore witness, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to him.’ Continue reading

Part 2: The Births of John the Baptist & Jesus

Luke 1:57 - Now Elizabeth’s full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son. 58 And her neighbors and her cousins heard how the Lord had showed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. 59 And it came to pass, on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. 60 And his mother answered and said, ‘Not so; but he shall be called John.’ 61 And they said unto her, ‘There is none of your kindred that is called by this name.’ Continue reading

The Phenominal Life of Jesus Part 1

Jesus, The Creator

John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
